✦ DAY 1 — THE PILLARS Bailong Elevator, a 326-meter glass lift built into a vertical cliff face, takes you to the Yuanjiajie summit. Here stands the Southern Sky Column — the exact formation James Cameron's location scouts photographed, officially renamed Avatar Hallelujah Mountain in 2010. Walk the cliff-edge paths, cross the First Bridge Under Heaven (a natural stone arch spanning two peaks), then shuttle to Tianzi Mountain at 1,262 meters for the Imperial Writing Brush Peaks panorama. Descend through the Ten-Mile Gallery valley trail with the pillars rising directly above you. Lunch at a mountain-top Tujia restaurant. End by 5:00 PM.
✦ DAY 2 — THE HEIGHTS Start at the Tianmen Mountain cable car station — the world's longest passenger cableway at 7.5 km. The 30-minute ride climbs from downtown Zhangjiajie to the 1,518-meter summit. Up top: the cliff-edge glass skywalk bolted into the rock face at 1,430 meters, the Guigu Plank Road carved along a vertical cliff, Tianmen Temple (Tang Dynasty monastery), and the descent through the mountain via the world's longest escalator to Heaven's Gate — a 131.5-meter natural arch. After lunch, a 50-minute drive to the Grand Canyon glass bridge — 430 meters of transparent deck suspended 300 meters above the gorge. Descend for a 2 km canyon-floor walk past waterfalls and pools, ending with a boat ride across a jade-green reservoir. Return by 5:00 PM.
