Everything you need to know before booking a private tour in China with Roamvage.
Last updated: May 20, 2026Yes β Roamvage is a legally registered tour operator in China. We are an official direct provider, not a marketplace or middleman platform. Our guides are our own team, our tours are our own products. Here's what you can verify:
β’ Real traveler reviews on every product page β unedited, from people who actually took the tour. β’ Direct WhatsApp contact before booking β message us, ask anything. β’ Stripe payment processing (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified) β your payment is protected. β’ Confirmation email with full itinerary and guide contact details sent instantly after booking.
We built this business on trust, not ads.
All Roamvage guides hold official China tour guide licenses and speak fluent English. Many also speak additional languages (Spanish, French, German β ask us).
We select guides based on three things: deep local knowledge, strong communication skills, and genuine hospitality. They are not third-party freelancers β they are part of the Roamvage team.
Your guide will contact you via WhatsApp one day before the tour to confirm pickup time and answer any last-minute questions.
Your guide is your first point of contact and can handle most situations on the spot. For anything needing backup, our operations team is reachable 24/7 via WhatsApp.
If a tour cannot proceed due to extreme weather, sudden site closures, or other circumstances beyond anyone's control, we will: β’ Offer a full or partial refund, or β’ Reschedule at no extra cost.
Your safety and satisfaction are our direct responsibility β not outsourced to a third party.
Full payment at booking secures your guide, private vehicle, and time slot exclusively for you. Here's why it's safe:
β’ All payments are processed by Stripe β a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified provider used by millions of businesses including Amazon and Google. β’ We never store your full credit card number on our servers. β’ You receive an instant confirmation email with every booking detail. β’ If you cancel 24+ hours before the tour, you get a full refund β no questions asked.
We understand the hesitation. That's why we encourage you to message us on WhatsApp before booking β we're real people, not a faceless platform.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your tour β full refund, no questions. If your China visa is denied, email us the denial notice and we'll issue a full refund regardless of the 24-hour cutoff.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before start time, or no-shows, are non-refundable. Refunds are processed within 5β10 business days to your original payment method.
No hidden fees, ever. Every tour page has a clear "Inclusions" section showing exactly what's covered.
Typically included: English-speaking guide, private vehicle with driver, hotel pickup and drop-off within city center.
Typically not included (unless marked otherwise): attraction entrance tickets, meals, personal expenses, and tips. Tipping is not expected in China β it's entirely optional.
If anything is unclear on a product page, message us and we'll explain it in plain English.
Absolutely β and it's one of the best things about a private tour. There's no group to keep up with, no fixed pace. The day moves at your family's rhythm.
For families with children: we adjust the route to include breaks, kid-friendly stops, and can recommend family-friendly restaurants.
For elderly travelers: we minimize unnecessary walking, choose accessible routes, and can arrange wheelchair-accessible vehicles on request.
Just let us know your group composition when booking β ages help us prepare. Children may qualify for reduced pricing (see each tour page for details).
We pick you up from any hotel within our city center pickup zone (typically within the 3rd Ring Road in Beijing, Inner Ring in Shanghai, etc.). Each tour page lists the exact pickup area.
Staying at an Airbnb? Just provide the full address at checkout β as long as it's within the pickup zone, we'll come to you.
Airport, train station, or cruise port pickup is available on request (a small surcharge may apply). Enter your location at checkout and we'll confirm it works for your tour.
Yes, and absolutely no forced shopping β ever. Unlike budget group tours that take you to jade factories and tea shops for commission kickbacks, our private tours have zero commercial stops unless you specifically ask to visit one.
You can discuss adjustments with your guide before the tour (via WhatsApp) or suggest changes on the day: β’ Spend an extra hour at the Great Wall? Done. β’ Skip a temple you've already seen? No problem. β’ Want to stop for street food? Your guide knows the best spots.
It's your day. We're here to make it great, not to sell you things.
Rain or light weather won't stop a tour β your guide adapts (indoor stops first, umbrellas provided, breaks adjusted). China's landmarks are spectacular in any weather.
For extreme conditions (typhoon, heavy snow causing road closures), we'll contact you proactively to reschedule or refund.
If your plans change last-minute, contact us as soon as possible β we'll do our best to reschedule at no extra cost if availability allows. The sooner you tell us, the more we can help.
