And three hours east, the landscape drops into a different world: Wulong's natural stone bridges, 200 feet above the forest floor.
Day 1 hits Chongqing proper. Your guide meets you at 9 AM. Jiefangbei, the wartime commercial center. The Yangtze River Cablecar — 4 minutes, 60 meters up, best skyline view in the city. Hotpot for lunch — your guide picks the place, you choose the spice level. Ciqikou Old Town in the afternoon: Ming dynasty streets that are still lived in.
Day 2 you drive south through tunnel-punched mountains. Wulong's Three Natural Bridges: three giant stone arches, 200+ meters tall, carpeted in green. You walk the gorge floor looking up. Optional evening at Fairy Mountain — alpine meadow at 2,000 meters.
Day 3 is your choice: Furong Cave (a 2-million-year-old limestone cave with underground waterfalls) or Longshui Gorge (a slot canyon 100 meters deep). Then the drive back to Chongqing and drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
